SARAH ELIZABETH MOFFITT was born Nov 11, 1826 in McDowell Co., NC and died Sept 24, 1904 in Buncombe Co., NC. She married John Cooper Evans, Jr. of Habersham County, GA. Their children were Elizabeth Celina Evans, Mary A. Evans, Susan Evans, Sarah C. Evans, and Nancy C. Evans.

According to the 1860 McDowell Co., NC Census - Black Mountain Township she was living with her parents at age 35. If she was married, why the name Moffitt on the census? A mistake?
